Midden in de – op muzikaal vlak dan toch – donkere jaren ’80 veroverde de funk stormenderhand de main stream muziek scene. Slappende baslijnen en dreunende drumcomputers dicteerden de wet, in een genre dat hit na hit vervelde tot het uiteindelijk hip hop werd. Chic himself (or was it Pas Cher?) wasn't able to attend the radio session, so Voodoo (remember Groovy Voodoo Jesus Shuffle?
